NCIS Season 19 Major Changes Announced

NCIS Season 19 Updates: After first releasing in 2003, NCIS gained quite a huge fan following with an IMDb rating of 7.7/10. Even though the show was quite slow in garnering views in its early years, by the third season, it had seen a decent success and by the sixth one, it gained a spot in the top five and has managed to hold it since.

The show is currently in its 18th season and is the 7th-longest-running scripted U.S. primetime TV series.

NCIS is an American drama, following Special Agent Leroy Jethro Gibbs as he leads his skilled team from the Naval Criminal Investigative Service in solving intense criminal cases. The show aims to combine elements of both police procedural and military drama genres.

The show is currently in its 18th season and is gearing up for another season which will release later this year. However, the newest season comes with a major change.

The show, which had aired on CBS every Tuesday at 8 PM for eighteen years is now being shifted to a new slot. The hit series will now premiere on Mondays at 9 PM.

According to Variety, this was done to allow the network could rebrand Tuesdays as an all-FBI night. Hence, starting this September, the channel will air FBI at 8 PM, followed by FBI: International at 9 PM, and later FBI: Most Wanted at 10 PM.

Similarly, NCIS will be followed by a new spin-off series NCIS: Hawai’i on Mondays, making it an NCIS night. However, NCIS: Los Angeles will still air on Sundays at 9 PM.

This has previously done by other networks too and has led them to gain an increase in viewership. It seems that CBS is also looking for a similar outcome out of the recent decision.

Another change that the NCIS franchise has seen recently is the casting of TV presenter Vanessa Lachey as Jane Tennant who will appear in NCIS Pearl Harbor. The actress shared the news on her Instagram saying that she felt greatly honored.
